Moving subject tracking is improved by as much as 7x, allowing reliable capture even when using extremely narrow depth of field at F1.4. XA (extreme aspherical) elements, refined optics, XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors, and a compact circular aperture unit pack superb large-aperture performance into a barrel that measures just 3.38 in (84.7 mm) x 4.25 in (107.3 mm) and weighs only 22.7 oz. (642 g). That's about 13% less volume and 20% less mass for outstanding agility and matching with compact α-series bodies.
